So when version 3.1 introduced an obscure new quest promising a hidden teleport waypoint buried deep in Sumeru‘s arid desert, I knew this was a challenge made for me.
In this guide, you‘ll join me on an epic expedition to unravel the riddles guarding this eagerly-awaited prize, earning every step towards making the waypoint‘s secrets your own. With the right preparation and perseverance, even relative newcomers can discover what so many travelers have overlooked among these windswept dunes.
Gearing Up for Glory
The first step on any quest is preparing your gear and party. From my experience vanquishing fantasy realms, you‘ll want a diverse mix of elements and abilities before facing the unknown.
For this particular mission, I‘d recommend the following team roles based on common obstacles previous players have uncovered:
- 2x Pyro Users (dilute solutions, melt ice)
- 1x Anemo Hero (break through barriers)
- 1x Geo Character (create platforms, weigh down pressure plates)
Stock up on at least 20 Sweet Madames, 5 adeptus temptation, and your best weapons/artifacts before entering the desert zone. Stamina is fleeting in arid biomes, so pack only the most vital provisions since weight impacts mobility.
Piercing the Veil
Upon entering the perplexing Sands of Glowing Stars zone (788,899 coordinates), a distressed NPC named Afratu provides the initial quest prompt, "Afratu‘s Dilemma."
Agreeing to help launches the first objective: unblocking the entrance to a hidden cave system. Ancient records indicate this site housed a prosperous civilization, so mysteries abound regarding what remains below the dunes.
I unleashed Amber‘s explosive doll and a few of Diluc‘s searing phoenix attacks, revealing a tunnel–and the first barrier.
Expect to contend with the following trials guarding the buried waypoint, based on my adventure:
- 4 Element-Infused Seals (use anemo attacks!)
- 3 Ruin Shade Encounters (Their weakness is crystal cores)
- 1 Quicksand Trap (Create geo structures)
- 2 Riddle Tablets (Hints from the gods)
But persevering leads to enormous rewards. So stock up on revival foods, channel your creativity, and prepare to navigate…
The Glowing Gulch of Destiny
Few travelers have witnessed what lies beyond the enchanted seals, but legends speak of a glowing gulch filled with glimmering sigils – the key to accessing the hidden waypoint.
After working through each energy barrier, I discovered four luminescent platforms covered in runes. Activating them simultaneously unlocked a central shaft, finally leading me to the coveted waypoint.
Based on the array of celestial symbols and murals adorning the glittering cave walls, this mystical site clearly held ritual purpose to past civilizations. Though its full history remains shrouded, uncovering this waypoint offers merely a tantalizing glimpse behind the veil of the desert‘s extraordinary past.
For now, simply enjoy having privileged access to this secret space. Yet mysteries undoubtedly still echo through its glittering halls for those bold enough to uncover the truth!
