Spindel Boss Fight Phases and Mechanics

Spindel alternates between melee and magic combat every 25% health lost. Mastering his attack patterns in each phase is key to defeating him consistently without burning through tons of expensive restorative items.

Melee Phases: A Dance of Steel and Spiders

Right from his initial emergence, Spindel skitters forth menacingly preparing a vicious slash attack. I immediately activate Protect from Melee while moving to max range near the staircase.

Phase 1: Fending Off Spiderlings

His early melee strikes deal up to 25 damage, making prayer essential to avoid quick KOs. Every 10 seconds Spindel also spawns groups of 5-6 spiderlings with only 10 HP each. But their venom and flanking overwhelms quickly if left unchecked!

I found chinchompas extremely effective for swiftly wiping out spiderling mobs before focusing attacks back on Spindel. If needing to conserve ammo, explosive potions also demolish the tiny swarmers rapidly when gathered. Melee spinning weapons like the dragon halberd hit multiple adjacent targets too.

The key is clearing spidersFAST, as their venom rapidly drains stats, reducing offensive effectiveness tremendously. I chomp through prayer doses rapidly switching between Protect from Melee and Protect from Missiles accordingly.

Phase 2: The Spinarak Onslaught!

Upon depleting his first phase HP bar, Spindel teleports away briefly before skittering back even more fiercely for round 2! His max melee hit now reaches 30, so keeping prayer active remains essential.

However, the true Phase 2 threat emerges when Spindel summons Spinaraks – imposing lv-160 spider bosses acting as his reinforcements. Fighting back to back bosses demands intense focus!

The Spinaraks bind you with entangling webs, then pile damage alongside Spindel and swarms of spiderlings. I prioritize destroying webs first using my trusty dragon scimitar before switching prayers rapidly against the two boss‘ assault.

Their combined offense tears through even maxed defense stats quickly! Protect from Melee blocks Spindel‘s slashes, while Protect from Ranged defends against the Spinarak‘s venomous spit. The key is reacting instantly to the bosses‘ alternating attacks through quick flicks.

Once securing breathing room from the spider horde, I unleash my Abyssal tentacle weapon special attack on Spindel directly for huge damage, while periodically throwing chinchompas when spiderlings converge.

Spindel initially focuses fire directly on you, as volcanic eruptions summoned splatter green magic attacks followed by spreading lava pools around the chamber.

Spindel‘s magic strikes here each deal up to 20 damage, with his lava pools ticking for constant 10s if touched. Despite the lower max hit compared to his melee strikes, the stat reductions are far more punishing.

Getting hit just 4 times drained my Strength from 99 to 75, drastically hindering damage output. I learned quickly to dodge while drinking super restores proactively. Bring 8 doses at a minimum, 12 if less agile!

Phase 2: The Relentless Onslaught

Below 10 HP, Spindel unleashes his full magical arsenal! He rapidly cycles between magic, ranged and melee spells aimed in all directions. This tests even master level prayer flicking to the extreme!

There were multiple times where three simultaneous unique projectiles slammed me after just slightly mistiming a prayer swap. Each magic attack deals up to 25 damage now, ringing health faster than I could brew.

I found the best strategy here is bursting down Spindel ASAP while flicking prayers precisely against whatever attack style he uses next. Camping any single protection leaves you vulnerable to his alternating barrage.

Gear Loadouts & Combat Style Comparison – Crushing Spindel in Style

Proper gearing makes ALL the difference when battling intense bosses like Spindel. Here‘s a breakdown of what armaments I‘ve tested successfully:

Melee Offense – My Preferred Playstyle

My go-to setup leveraging 99 Attack and Strength centers around raw melee damage:

I also experimented quite a bit with heavy Ranged setups utilizing the rapid attack speed and venomous punishment of the:

  • Toxic blowpipe with Dragon darts – insanely fast DPS potential

Supplementing this with max Ranged strength gear like Anguish necklace, Armadyl armor, and the Pegasian boots acquits itself nicely. The blowpipe tears through spiderlings quickly, allowing concentrating venom strikes directly on Spindel too.

However, losing the high melee Strength of Bandos does lower max potential damage against Spindel‘s 100 defense level. And being caught in MD of Spindel even once while wielding the fragile blowpipe generally leads to a quick explosive KO!

Why I Prefer Solo Melee After 500+ Attempts

Ultimately after 513 Spindel kills and many gear experiments, I‘ve determined solo melee using the core setup detailed above yields the smoothest, strongest boss clears for my stats and money making goals. Here‘s a quick pro/con evaluation:

  • Prayer: 70 minimum, but 80+ strongly recommended for duration if learning or multiple mistakes

Meeting these offensive and defensive levels prevents Spindel and friendlies from shredding you too quickly during the alternating attack phases.
