Welcome back fellow Operators! In this comprehensive 2000+ word guide, we’ll be breaking down how to complete the mission of taking 9 tracking devices from a dead drop in Al Bagra Fortress, then planting them on a cargo train in Warzone 2’s new DMZ mode.
As a fellow DMZ veteran and social media marketing guru, I’ll be providing plenty of insider tips and analysis throughout this step-by-step walkthrough. Let’s get right into it!
What is DMZ Mode in Warzone 2?
For those new to DMZ, here’s a quick overview of what this new open-world narrative experience is all about…
DMZ takes the core Battle Royale mechanics of Warzone and spins them into a hardcore survival-style PvEvP mode. Squads of up to 3 players are dropped into one of the game’s massive Exclusion Zones with the goal of completing missions, securing valuable contraband and intel, taking out enemy forces, and ultimately extracting via helicopter.
But here’s the catch – death is permanent! If you die during an incursion, you lose all contraband and weapons in your inventory. You’ll have to start from scratch again on your next run. This creates incredibly high stakes gameplay full of tense, tactical decision-making.
There are three primary EZs to explore:
- Al Mazrah – based on Warzone 2‘s core map. Lush urban areas and arid deserts.
- Ashika Island – tropical island locked under perpetual fog of war.
- Sariff Bay – coastal industrial port town.
You’ll face off against AI combatants from factions like the White Lotus, Legion, and Shadow Company. But keep an eye out for other squads of Operators who can choose to be friend or foe!
Mastering DMZ requires learning each massive map, strategizing loadouts, balancing risk and reward, and above all else, situational awareness. Let’s see an example of that in action with this tracking device mission…
Step 1 – Loot 9 Tracking Devices from the Al Bagra Dead Drop
Our first objective is to infiltrate the Al Bagra Fortress POI located in the central G8 sector of Al Mazrah’s urban core.
Al Bagra is an ancient fortress ruin surrounded by open streets – not great for cover! It’s currently occupied by the White Lotus faction, so getting inside undetected will be a challenge.
Based on in-game lore, Al Bagra holds a secret dead drop stash that we need to locate. This is where our 9 tracking devices will be waiting.
Once at Al Bagra, I recommend entering quietly through the east side entrance. Equip a suppressor on your primary weapon to avoid drawing unwanted attention. The new Victus XMR sniper rifle or SP-R 208 marksman rifle are solid choices here.
Slowly clear the exterior grounds, using cover to avoid open sightlines. Inside the main courtyard is a dead drop crate tucked against the back corner by some stairs. Interact with it to secure the 9 trackers!
With the devices in hand, it’s time to catch a train across town…
Recommended Al Bagra Loadout
Based on my experience, here are the ideal weapons and gear for a stealthy infiltration:
Primary: Victus XMR, SP-R 208, Lachmann-762, or another suppressed rifle.
Secondary: P890 pistol for emergency close-range defense.
Tactical: Smoke grenades to disorient groups when detected.
Lethal: Proximity mine to cover your 6.
Perks: Cold-Blooded, Tracker, Spotter.
Field Upgrade: Dead Silence.
Step 2 – Board the Cargo Train and Plant the Trackers
Now we‘ll need to take our newly acquired tracking devices to the stationary cargo train located just south in the Ahkdar Village sector.
This is the classic armored brown train that veterans will remember from Verdansk. It runs on a loop through Ahkdar, so you may need to wait a couple minutes for it to arrive. Clear the area of threats in the meantime.
Once the train pulls in, fight your way through any hostiles aboard and make your way to the carriages. Look around for crates and use the prompt to plant your trackers.
For the mission, you only need to tag 5 crates. But for maximum rewards, take the time to place all 9 trackers. This also unlocks bonus backstory bits!
Fend off any attackers while planting, then exfil once 5+ crates are bugged. The train offers good cover, so hole up in one of the cars and defend until your chopper arrives.
Recommended Cargo Train Loadout
For lots of close-quarters combat, I suggest:
Primary: Kastov-74u or Minibak SMG.
Secondary: PILA rocket launcher to quickly destroy enemy vehicles.
Tactical: Stim for self-healing.
Lethal: C4 explosives to boobytrap entrances.
Perks: Double Time, Tracker, Fast Hands.
Field Upgrade: Dead Silence.
Additional Tips for the Tracking Device Mission
To boost your chances of success, here are some pro tips:
-
Pack extra armor and medkits in case things go sideways.
-
Bring a long-range rifle for early picks crossing the desert to Al Bagra.
-
Use suppressed weapons whenever possible to avoid drawing attention.
-
Visually scan rooftops and windows for snipers.
-
When planting trackers, watch entrances for third-parties.
-
Hop between train cars for better angles against attackers.
-
Consider playing on Normal difficulty first to learn patterns.
-
Coordinate with your squad – have one watch your back while you plant.
-
Actively ping enemies, loot, and callouts for your team.
-
Check your compass and minimap frequently to avoid flankers.
And that covers everything you need to know about completing the tracking device mission in CoD: Warzone 2 DMZ! Let me know if you have any other questions, and good luck securing those supplies out there. Stay frosty!
