These special puzzle boxes offer rare upgrades in exchange for lighting braziers hidden in the environment. According to fansite GoWSecrets.com, less than 12% of players have opened even half of these coveted chests. Today, I‘ll share my strategy for igniting all 3 torches to open Radsvinn‘s Rig Rune Chest specifically.
First, some background. Radsvinn‘s Rig is an enormous mining structure built by dwarves in Svartalfheim seeking magical materials. Along your ascent up the decrepit scaffolding, you‘ll trigger a brief cutscene showing the massive scale of this site. Shortly after this moment, you‘ll spot the tell-tale Nornir chest symbols carved into the wooded platforms.
As a veteran player, I‘ve learned to prioritize these chests the moment they appear. The valuable contents are well worth the effort of solving their torch puzzles. For example, the reward inside Radsvinn‘s Rig Rune Chest is a Horn of Blood Mead which boosts your maximum Rage meter by a whole bar—a significant 12% increase!
Let‘s break down how to light all three braziers:
Torch 1
This torch is already lit when you reach the chest‘s location. As long as you trigger the scene I mentioned earlier, you can‘t miss it.
Torch 2
Facing the chest, turn around completely and look down and left from the platform you‘re on. You should spot a lower wooden landing with three barrels. Use Atreus‘s Shock Arrows to smash the two barrels flanking the hidden second torch. Once it‘s exposed, ignite it from a distance with a charged Runic Attack from the Blades of Chaos.
Torch 3
Finally, rotate to your right and angle the camera upwards to reveal a dangling rig structure above you. Score a precise hit on the explosive pot here with the Leviathan Axe special attack, Frost Awaken. Time it right as the pot swings towards you to make lighting the last brazier easy.
And that‘s all three! As the torches ignite, the Nornir chest will unlock instantly. Loot the Blood Mead horn inside to beef up Kratos‘s Rage attacks for the rest of the game. It may not seem like much, but trust me—that extra Rage meter segment pays off, especially in late-game boss battles against the likes of Gna and Heimdall.
