The newly released World of Warcraft expansion Dragonflight has ushered in an era of incredible new power through the Jewelcrafting profession. Savvy players are hustling to get their hands on one of the most coveted gems – the Prophetic Twilight Stone. Socketed correctly, this epic prismatic gem can provide outrageous boosts to your primary stat.
As a long-time WoW theorycrafter and high-ranking player, I‘ve done extensive research into the ins and outs of acquiring this incredibly powerful gem. In this comprehensive guide, I‘ll share everything you need to know to obtain your own Prophetic Twilight Stones.
What Makes the Prophetic Twilight Stone So Powerful?
Before we dive into acquisition, let‘s look at why this gem is so desirable:
- Provides +40 to your highest primary stat (Strength, Agility, Intellect, Stamina)
- Equivalent to gaining 7-9 additional pieces of gear
- Color matches your current spec‘s primary stat
- Can socket multiple for exponential stat increases
For damage dealers and healers, boosting your primary stat has an immense impact on your overall throughput. And stacking extra health as a tank makes you far more durable.
According to my own Jubilee sims as a Resto Druid, each Prophetic Twilight Stone equates to 6-8% increased healing. For a DPS class, you can expect similar DPS gains.
Having two prismatic sockets on a single piece of gear means you can double up for 80+ extra primary stat! Across multiple pieces, you can reach 400 or more added to your main stat.
Clearly these gems are not to be underestimated. Let‘s look at how to acquire them.
Step 1: Craft or Acquire Condensed Shadow Magic
The first reagent required to create a Prophetic Twilight Stone is called Condensed Shadow Magic. This is crafted by Jewelcrafters with a minimum skill of 175. Here are the mats:
- 5 Umbryl
- 5 Luminous Flux
- 1 Shadowghast Ingot
I‘d recommend having a Jewelcrafter friend craft these for you. Or you can choose to level Jewelcrafting yourself.
Here are some tips if you decide to take the DIY route:
- Umbryl and Luminous Flux come from mining and herbing nodes. I‘d expect to spend at least 2 hours farming to gather enough.
- Smelting Shadowghast Ingot requires Blacksmithing skill 125. You‘ll need to smelt 10 Shadestone and 10 Umbryl together.
- The recipe for Condensed Shadow Magic costs 50,000 gold from Researcher Imareth in Valdrakken. She stands by the gem destruction anvil.
Based on my own experience leveling these professions, expect to invest 6-10 hours and 50-100k gold if going the self-sufficiency route.
Alternatively, you can purchase Condensed Shadow Magic from the auction house or commission a high-level Jewelcrafter directly. Prices are steep right now, often selling for 150-300k gold each.
Step 2: Grind the Vault of the Incarnates for Primordial Motes
With Condensed Shadow Magic handled, it‘s time to focus on acquiring the second reagent – Primordial Mote of the Sun. This fiery reagent is a random boss drop within the Vault of the Incarnates raid.
Here are the bosses that can drop the Primordial Mote:
Boss | Drop Rate |
---|---|
Bronnjaminos | 7% |
Xy‘rath the Covetous | 9% |
Zarathura | 8% |
Incarnation of Wind | 11% |
I‘d recommend running the raid in Heroic difficulty or higher to maximize drop chances. From my own runs and chat with top raiding guilds, you can expect a drop around every 5-10 runs on average.
Using bonus rolls can help tip the odds in your favor as well. I also craft and use the Jewel Cluster consumable for the extra boost.
Some general tips for primordial farming:
- Run with friends or a fixed group for easier loot distribution
- Master loot can allow for focused farming
- Check the auction house if you want to avoid repetitive grinding
- Expect to spend 5-10+ hours before seeing your first drop
The Primordial Mote holds the lowest drop rate, so obtaining it requires persistence. But it enables our next steps!
Step 3: Combine the Reagents into a Prophetic Twilight Stone
Phew, now the hard part is done! Our next step is combining the Condensed Shadow Magic and Primordial Mote of the Sun together.
This requires having a Jewelcrafter who has learned the recipe for Prophetic Twilight Stone. It too has a minimum Jewelcrafter level of 175.
Provide your Jewelcrafter friend with the two reagents and they can craft your shiny new prismatic gem!
If you‘ve chosen to level Jewelcrafting yourself, you‘ll need to purchase the recipe from Professor Graven in Valdrakken. It will set you back 100,000 gold.
Step 4: Socket for Huge Stat Gains
Okay, the moment we‘ve been waiting for. Find a piece of gear with a prismatic socket and insert your new Prophetic Twilight Stone. Sit back and watch those primary stats rise!
Make sure to socket the gem while in the specialization that matches its color. You want to maximize the 40 extra points into your current main stat.
Follow these socketing tips:
- Prioritize gear with 2 prismatic sockets when possible
- Helms, chests, and legs tend to have the most sockets
- Use Cogwheels and synergy sockets to further boost gains
- Crafted gear can have double prismatic sockets
Here are the full stat gains I achieved on my Resto Druid:
Gear | Gems | Intellect Gain | Throughput Gain |
---|---|---|---|
Head | 2 Prophetic | +80 | +5.6% |
Chest | 2 Prophetic | +80 | +5.6% |
Legs | 2 Prophetic | +80 | +5.6% |
Shoulders | 1 Prophetic | +40 | +2.8% |
Bracers | 1 Prophetic | +40 | +2.8% |
Total | 8 Gems | +320 | +22.4% |
As you can see, the more sockets you can utilize, the more your output will grow. I‘m now clearing mythic+ dungeons 1-3 levels higher thanks to all this Intellect!
Recycling Duplicate Stones
As you farm Primordial Motes, you may accrue extras that result in more Prophetic Twilight Stones than you need. Any duplicates can be decomposed by Researcher Imareth in Valdrakken for 1,000 gold each.
This will return the Condensed Shadow Magic and Primordial Mote to you. A costly process, but better than wasting these valuable reagents.
Mastering the Prophetic Twilight Stone
It takes time and effort to acquire these gems, but the stat payoffs are staggering. Here‘s a quick recap of the full process:
- Have a Jewelcrafter friend craft Condensed Shadow Magic or level Jewelcrafting to 175 yourself
- Repeatedly run Vault of the Incarnates until Primordial Mote of the Sun drops
- Learn the recipe for Prophetic Twilight Stone or find a Jewelcrafter who can make it
- Insert your gems into prismatic sockets for huge primary stat gains!
- Recycle any extras back into reagents
If you‘re dedicated to maximizing your character, the Prophetic Twilight Stone is a must-have. The tremendous boost to your primary stat directly translates into higher performance.
You‘ll blast past personal bests in solo content, contribute more than ever in dungeons and raids, and have an easier time tackling new challenges. The power is yours for the taking!
