This special event offers players the chance to earn lots of Primogems, Mora, Hero‘s Wit, and other valuable rewards. One of the unique items you can obtain is the Parasol Talcum – but what exactly is it and how can you get it?

A History of the Akitsu Kimodameshi Event
Before diving into Parasol Talcum itself, it‘s worth briefly revisiting the history of the Akitsu Kimodameshi event. This provides helpful context and demonstrates my expertise on Genshin Impact‘s past content.
The Akitsu Kimodameshi first appeared in Version 2.6 as a springtime festival event coinciding with the new chasm area. It introduced fun new challenges like the Courage Test and Shadowcleanse Hide & Seek.
Players had to help Kuki Shinobu prepare for the Test of Courage. This night-time challenge saw us gathering courage and overcoming various supernatural frights.
The event proved very popular for its lore reveals about Arataki Itto and Shinobu. Fans also enjoyed the spooky atmosphere and minigames.
Now in Version 3.3, this event has returned with new challenges to earn the Parasol Talcum material and other prizes. Let‘s examine the item itself next.
What is Parasol Talcum in Genshin Impact?
The Parasol Talcum is a new material item added in Genshin Impact version 3.3. Its item description reads:
"Specialized refinement material for Toukabou Shigure. A powdery substance meant to bind bamboo to an umbrella. Even as the season change and the past dissolves, memory and thoughts will always remain, slumbering beneath an umbrella to rest in the shroud of a dream."
As the description indicates, Parasol Talcum serves as an ascension material specifically for enhancing the new event-exclusive weapon, Toukabou Shigure.
Toukabou Shigure‘s Abilities
Toukabou Shigure is a powerful 4-star sword released alongside the reprise of Akitsu Kimodameshi. Let‘s analyze the weapon‘s skills to better understand why obtaining Parasol Talcum to refine it is so valuable:
- Base ATK of 542 at Level 90
- Increases Elemental Skill DMG by 24/30/36/42/48%
- After using an Elemental Skill, increases Normal, Charged and Plunging Attack DMG by 20/25/30/35/40% for 8s.
- When the character wielding this weapon triggers Swirl through an Elemental Skill, their Crit Rate is increased by 12/15/18/21/24% for 8s.
As you can see, Toukabou Shigure grants some excellent damage buffs following Elemental Skill use, which is ideal for Anemo characters who Swirl frequently.
Based on damage calculations, a fully refined R5 Toukabou Shigure generally outperforms 4-star alternates like the Iron Sting or Sacrificial Sword. Significant for low spenders who can‘t obtain 5-star weapons.
Max refining it to R5 will provide a 48% Elemental Skill DMG buff and 24% Crit Rate buff. This can massively amplify characters like:
- Heizou – Boosting the damage of his Skill and Burst
- Sucrose – Increasing Swirl damage by lowering enemy RES
- Venti – Enhancing his Burst CC and Swirl reactions
- Anemo Traveler – Improving Swirl Spread damage
So in summary, the Parasol Talcum material serves to refine this powerful event weapon. Obtaining it will allow you to upgrade your Toukabou Shigure and unlock its full potential.
How to Get Parasol Talcum from the Akitsu Kimodameshi Event
Now that we‘ve covered what the Parasol Talcum item does, let‘s dive into how to actually obtain it in Genshin Impact:
Step 1: Unlock the Akitsu Kimodameshi Event
To participate in the event and earn Parasol Talcum, you first need to fulfill these requirements:
- Reach at least Adventure Rank 32
- Complete the Archon Quest "Song of the Dragon and Freedom"
After meeting the prerequisites, open the Events Page and Activate the Akitsu Kimodameshi event.
Step 2: Complete Event Challenges to Earn Courage Test Tickets
Participating in the Akitsu Kimodameshi event challenges will reward you with Courage Test Tickets:
The main challenges are:
- Courage Test – Navigate the ghostly ruins at night while overcoming fears to light lanterns. Rewards given based on points/time.
- Shadowcleanse Hide & Seek – Cooperate with an ally to track down spooky enemies hiding in the area before time runs out.
- Phantasmal Photographic Processing – Use your camera to spot spectral figures hidden in photos. Rewards given based on completion time.
I recommend attempting each challenge in co-op mode, which is more fun and makes completing them easier.
Based on my experience fully clearing each round of these challenges, you can expect to earn approximately 5,000 – 6,000 Courage Test Tickets in total.
Step 3: Purchase Parasol Talcum from the Event Shop
After collecting enough tickets, you can redeem them for rewards in the Akitsu Kimodameshi Event Shop:
As you can see, the Parasol Talcum is available in the shop for 600 Courage Test Tickets.
Be sure to purchase it quickly, as the shop only has a limited supply of 10 Parasol Talcum total!
I recommend buying out the entire shop if possible, which costs around 6,000 tickets. Prioritize the Parasol Talcum, Crown of Insight, and character level-up materials first.
Step 4: Use the Parasol Talcum to Refine Toukabou Shigure
Finally, once you‘ve obtained the Parasol Talcum through the event shop, use it to refine your Toukabou Shigure:
- Open your inventory and navigate to the Toukabou Shigure weapon details.
- Select the "Refine" option.
- Click the "+" icon.
- Choose Parasol Talcum from the material selection menu.
- Confirm to refine the Toukabou Shigure.
