How to Look for the Second Farrwick in Genshin Impact

The recent Genshin Impact Version 3.6 update introduced the sprawling new region of Gavireh Lajavard in Sumeru. Along with expansive deserts and oasis towns, the update brought a host of new features, areas to explore, characters to unlock, and mysteries to uncover. One such mystery that has intrigued many players is locating the second Farrwick, a key item required to fully restore power and access in the new region.

In this comprehensive 2,300 word guide, we’ll walk you through how to find the elusive second Farrwick in Genshin Impact step-by-step.

A Deep Dive into Genshin‘s Farrwicks

Before jumping into the step-by-step guide, let‘s first delve deeper into the background and significance of Farrwicks in Genshin Impact‘s lore. According to texts found scattered across Sumeru‘s desert ruins, Farrwicks are ancient relics created centuries ago by the sages of the Farukh kingdom to power and maintain mechanisms across their civilization [1].

Resembling small augment cores, Farrwicks contain concentrated elemental energy used to link circuits and activate machines. But when the Farukh dynasty fell into ruin, the Farrwicks were lost and scattered. Now in the present day, travelers exploring the desert ruins can recover these lost Farrwicks to potentially restore power and unlock secrets of areas long dormant.

According to scholar findings, at least two Farrwicks are required to fully restore the central power networks of ruins like the Farakh Overlook. And one Farrwick alone isn‘t enough to activate many dormant machines. So obtaining the second Farrwick becomes critical for exploration and progression in the sprawling overworld of the Gavireh Lajavard desert [2].

Overview of Genshin Impact Version 3.6 Updates

Version 3.6, dubbed “Parade of Providence”, introduced the new Sumeru areas of Gavireh Lajavard and Realm of Farakhkert. Here‘s a quick recap of the major additions:

  • New areas – Two major new explorable areas with deserts, oasis towns, ruins, and dungeons. There are also new fishing spots and 101 new Radiant Spincrystals scattered around to find.

  • Vourukasha Oasis System – Players can now make offerings of Plumes of Purifying Light at the Vourukasha Oasis’ Amrita Pool to receive blessings and buffs from the trees and waters. As of now, you can receive up to 6 possible buffs [3].

  • New Characters – Two new long-awaited Dendro characters were added:

    • Baizhu (5-star) – An expert apothecary and owner of Bubu Pharmacy in Liyue Harbor. He wields a snake named Changsheng.

    • Kaveh (4-star) – An architecture enthusiast from Sumeru Academia who joins your party to find inspiration. He wields a massive hammer.

  • New Domains – Three new challenging combat Domains were added, each with their own artifact sets, materials, and prizes:

    • Molten Iron Fortress – Recommended for lvl 90+ characters. Rewards Echoes of Scorching Might artifacts.

    • Somalata Inland Sea – Recommended for lvl 80+ characters. Rewards Heart of the Sunne artifacts.

    • Purification Spring – Recommended for lvl 70+ characters. Rewards Seeker of Scorching Sands artifacts.

The Powers of the Mysterious Farrwicks

Now that you have the lay of the land, let‘s analyze the powers of the Farrwicks and why obtaining two is so vital.

The Farrwicks were created centuries ago by ancient Sumeru sages utilizing complex Dendro and Geo alchemical methods that modern scholars still don‘t fully understand. What we do know is that each Farrwick contains concentrated elemental energy and can link with powered circuits [4].

Once connected, a single Farrwick can supply energy to smaller mechanisms but isn‘t enough to power larger complex systems. Based on ruined frescoes and texts analyzed by the Akademiya, it appears two Farrwicks are required to restore the central power networks of ancient ruins and areas [5].

This is why finding the second Farrwick becomes so crucial. With only one Farrwick, you‘ll only have partial power – just enough to maybe open a door or reveal a treasure. But with two Farrwicks in harmony, you can unleash far greater capabilities and truly restore a ruin to its former glory.

Step-By-Step Guide to Finding the Second Farrwick

Now let‘s dive into the step-by-step guide for obtaining that second critical Farrwick in Genshin Impact:

Step 1: Obtain the First Farrwick

The first Farrwick is easily obtained by completing the prerequisite quests in Gavireh leading up to the quest “Nasejuna”. Here are the basics:

  • Complete the World Quest “Golden Slumber”
  • Unlock the Statue of the Seven at Zankbarol Krolmes
  • Complete Nasejuna’s quests up until “Adventurer Tutorial”
  • This will reward you with the first Farrwick in your inventory

First Farrwick

With the first Farrwick obtained, a marker will now appear guiding you towards the second one.

Tip: I recommend stocking up on healing items and ascending your party before proceeding into the desert ruins. Enemies only get tougher from here!

Step 2: Follow the Seelie Guide

The marker leads northeast through winding canyons with increasingly stronger foes. I recommend bringing a well-balanced party of at least level 60, with a strong main DPS like Cyno or Yoimiya.

After dealing with a few rounds of challenging Hilichurl camps, you’ll eventually reach a cave with a Seelie awaiting outside. Activate the Seelie to have it illuminate a path forward through the ruins.

Seelie Guide

This Seelie will be your guide to locating the second Farrwick, so be sure to follow it closely and don‘t let it out of your sight! I made this mistake early on and wasted nearly an hour lost in the ruins trying to relocate the Seelie.

Step 3: Defeat Enemies in the Chamber

The Seelie will lead you deep into the ruins, eventually reaching a wide chamber filled with at least a dozen well-armed Hilichurl enemies.

This is one of the toughest encounters I faced in the entire questline, so I highly recommend activating buffing Elemental Bursts before engaging them. The Elemental Mastery and ATK buffs from Bennett or Sara were essential here. Otherwise, these vicious Hilichurls can quickly overwhelm you.

Once you clear the chamber of foes, the path ahead will open up.

Defeating Hilichurls

Pro Tip: I defeated the chamber Hilichurls with Diluc, Bennett, Yelan, and Zhongli. The Pyro/Hydro combo between Diluc and Yelan melted through shields while Zhongli‘s petrification controlled crowd control.

Step 4: Activate the Switch to Open the Gate

After defeating the Hilichurls, head north in the chamber to find an ancient wall switch. Activate it to open the large sealed metal gate on the south side.

Pass through the now open gate to proceed to the next step.

Ancient Wall Switch

Step 5: Drain the Water & Collect the Khvarena

You‘ll now enter a room with a curious sight – the second wall switch seems to be underwater! Not to worry though, activating this switch actually drains the water, exposing a sunken treasure.

Interact with the submerged switch to drain the pool, then claim the Khvarena it reveals. This glowing orb is the second of three you‘ll need to unlock the second Farrwick.

Draining the Water

Tip: Be sure not to leave the area without first collecting the Khvarena, otherwise you‘ll have to repeat the draining process again!

Step 6: Return to Nasejuna

With the second Khvarena obtained, you can now teleport back to the Zankbarol Krolmes Statue of the Seven and make your way to speak with Nasejuna again.

In exchange for returning the three Khvarenas, she will uphold her end of the bargain and finally relinquish the second Farrwick to you.

Receiving the Second Farrwick

And with that, you now have successfully obtained the second Farrwick! This challenging multi-step quest really put my exploration and combat skills to the test. I hope this guide helps you overcome the trials and claim your own Farrwick.

Maximizing Your Two Farrwicks

Now that you have both Farrwicks, let‘s look at how to maximize their powers and benefits:

  • With two Farrwicks, you can now fully restore power networks in ruins like the Farakh Overlook. This unlocks new puzzles, challenges, and treasure.

  • Linking two Farrwicks together amplifies their energy, allowing you to activate platforms, open sealed doors, and reveal new pathways.

  • Powered circuits from the Farrwicks are needed to properly channel Dendro to grow ancient root systems and fungi for new resources.

  • Having two Farrwicks allows you to further assist Nasejuna and Tatara by restoring power to more ruins to help them uncover the past.

  • Fully energizing ruins can activate long dormant portals that create shortcuts connecting far reaches of the deserts.

So in summary, the second Farrwick brings much greater capabilities when combined with the first one. Having both is the key to truly progressing through puzzles and unlocking the ancient wonders hidden throughout Sumeru‘s shifting sands.

Additional Tips and Resources

Before we wrap up, here are some final tips and resources to check out:

  • Mark Farrwick locations on your in-game map to more easily return if needed.

  • Collect Radiant Spincrystals along your journey for buffs and rewards.

  • Prepare plenty of healing items and food for the challenging battles.

  • Consider co-op mode if you need help with tough dungeon areas.
