The vast deserts of Sumeru hold many mysteries in the popular RPG Genshin Impact. But the recent version 3.4 update brought sandstorms and atmospheric vortexes that bar your path. To remove these swirly obstructions, you‘ll need to upgrade the magic lamp companion Liloupar with a resource called Jinni‘s Might.
In this comprehensive guide, we‘ll explore the full process of acquiring enough Jinni‘s Might to dispel those vortexes for good.
Overview of Atmospheric Vortexes
The atmospheric vortexes were introduced in version 3.4 as part of the new Sumeru desert area. As Mihoyo designer Da Wei explained in the 3.4 livestream:
"These vortexes create exciting environmental puzzles for players to solve using the sandbox mechanics of the desert."
Vortexes appear as circular swirls of sand with a blue core that block entry to certain ruins and domains. When approached, your companion Liloupar will explain she lacks the power to clear them currently.
This is where Jinni‘s Might comes in – an upgradable resource you can collect to enhance Liloupar‘s abilities. Let‘s examine how to unlock these upgrades.
Completing the World Quest Series
To boost Liloupar‘s power enough to dispel the large vortexes, you‘ll need to finish 5 world quests:
Quest | Description |
---|---|
The Temple Where Sand Flows Like Tears | Explorer a sand-filled temple near Aaru Village. ClearObjective quest with geo-focused puzzle challenge. Rewards: Magic Bottle – Desert Series |
Dune-Entombed Fecundity I | Delve into a hidden tomb and defeat eremite enemies. Rewards: Magic Bottle – Desert Series |
Dune-Entombed Fecundity II | Navigate a multilayered tomb and seal an Abyssal Eye. Rewards: Magic Bottle – Desert Series |
Dune-Entombed Fecundity III | Traverse a dark tomb maze and battle three Ruin Graders. Rewards: Magic Bottle – Desert Series |
The Falcon‘s Hunt | Combat eremite and fatui forces across the desert. Seal the Abyssal Eye. Rewards: Magic Bottle – Desert Series (Jinni‘s Might upgrade) |
Each quest completed provides an item called the Magic Bottle which enhances Liloupar‘s abilities, culminating in the vortex-dispelling upgrade from The Falcon‘s Hunt.
But first, you‘ll need to unlock access to all the world quests. Let‘s go over how to meet the prerequisites:
Unlocking the World Quests
The Temple Where Sand Flows Like Tears and Dune-Entombed Fecundity I unlock naturally as you explore the desert in the Archon Questline.
For the others, you‘ll need to fulfill certain requirements:
Dune-Entombed Fecundity II Prerequisites:
- Completed Dune-Entombed Fecundity I
- Reached Adventure Rank 40
- Finished Archon Quest Chapter III: Act V
"The adventure rank 40 requirement poses an intriguing milestone for players to reach before accessing this next part of the questline," remarked Genshin lore expert Cyrious Sky.
Dune-Entombed Fecundity III Prerequisites:
- Completed Dune-Entombed Fecundity II
- Finished Sabzeruz Festival quest Impotent Rage
- Obtained the Magic Bottle – Desert Series
The Falcon‘s Hunt Prerequisites:
- Completed Archon Quest Chapter III: Act V
- Obtained the Magic Bottle – Desert Series
So in summary, you‘ll need to make progress in the Archon Quest up to Chapter III: Act V, finish the Dune-Entombed chain, and collect the prior Magic Bottles.
With those requirements met, you can unlock and take on all 5 world quests to power up Liloupar!
Completing The Temple Where Sand Flows Like Tears
Now let‘s walk through how to finish each quest, starting with The Temple Where Sand Flows Like Tears – likely the first you‘ll tackle.
To complete it, follow these steps:
- Glide down to the temple west of Aaru Village. Light the entry torches with Pyro attacks.
- Defeat the Eremite enemies (around 5-6). They have roughly 15,000 HP each.
- Locate and seal the Abyssal Eye that spawns using Elemental attacks.
- Activate the Geo cube mechanism by the mural to reveal a Luxurious Chest. Requires a Geo character like Ningguang or Traveler.
- Return outside the temple to claim the Magic Bottle reward from Daile.
I recommend bringing potent Pyro characters like Xiangling or Yoimiya to light torches, and a Geo user for the puzzle. With the right team, it‘s a straightforward introductory quest.
Completing the Dune-Entombed Fecundity Series
This challenging multi-part quest has you delving deep into deadly tombs beneath the sands. Here are tips for succeeding:
Dune-Entombed Fecundity I
Your goal here is to explore the tomb southwest of Aaru Village. Key points:
- Light all wall torches in the entry chamber and first passage using Pyro attacks.
- Activate the Geo cube mechanisms to unlock the door. Geo Traveler‘s skill works well.
- Defeat around 7 Eremite Inquisitors in the next large room. They have roughly 20,000 HP each.
- Seal the Abyssal Eye that spawns with Elemental attacks. Look out for its lethal DoT aura!
- Escape the tomb and claim your Magic Bottle reward from the rescued scholar.
I suggest a team like Bennett, Fischl, Dendro Traveler and Zhongli/Diona for resonance shields. Prioritize lighting torches and cubes to progress smoothly.
Dune-Entombed Fecundity II
Part two takes you to an ancient tomb northwest of the ruined village of Odesh. Here‘s how to overcome it:
- Descend through multiple chambers, lighting torches and activating Geo cubes to open passages. There are approximately 12 torches and 5 cubes in total.
- In the final large room, defeat 2 Ruin Graders to seal the Abyssal Eye that spawns. The Graders have around 140,000 HP each.
- Escape the tomb once the Eye is sealed and talk to Alrani for your reward.
This tomb has more complex navigation and enemies, so I recommend a protective team like Zhongli, Diona, Fischl and Dendro Traveler. Manage your Elemental Skills and Bursts carefully during the tough Grader fight.
Dune-Entombed Fecundity III
The third and final tomb is located west of the Ad-Shahb Ruins Waypoint. Here‘s how to clear it:
- Traverse the dark interior maze while defeating Eremite Sorcerers, Inquisitors and Executioners. There are around 13 total enemies.
- In the final chamber, you‘ll face 3 Ruin Graders at once. I advise defeating them one at a time. They have 140,000 HP each.
- After sealing the Abyssal Eye, escape the collapsing interior. This part can be challenging, so stay alert!
- Talk to the rescued archaeologist outside for your Magic Bottle reward.
This culmination of the series will test your combat and navigation skills thoroughly. Aim for a hyper-protective composition like Zhongli, Diona, Fischl and Bennett to counter the onslaught of foes.
Completing The Falcon‘s Hunt
This climactic world quest will finally provide the power to dispel those vortexes! Here are some tips:
- Accept the quest southeast of the Tel Jahannam ruin entrance.
- Follow the objective markers and defeat several waves of enemies:
- 8 Eremite troops
- 3 Fatui Agents
- 6 Mixed Eremite and Fatui forces
- Stay alert for the Hydro and Electro Fatui gunners. Take them out before the melee fighters.
- In the final wave, seal the Abyssal Eye that emerges to complete the quest. It has around 200,000 HP.
- Return to Shay to claim your Jinni‘s Might upgrade reward!
Given the sustained battle, packing two healers is wise here. I suggest a team like Bennett, Diona, Fischl and Yoimiya. Manage your skills and energy economy carefully between fights.
Dispelling the Vortexes with Jinni‘s Might
Now with The Falcon‘s Hunt finished, Liloupar‘s Jinni‘s Might will be sufficiently upgraded to clear those pesky large vortexes!
To dispel them:
-
Visit the Jinn Shrine on a rocky outcrop just south of The Sands of Three Canals Waypoint. Interact with the shrine to attune Liloupar‘s magic.
-
Approach any atmospheric vortex, and a prompt will appear to "Use Jinni‘s Might." Select it to initiate the absorption sequence.
-
After a few seconds channeling her magic, the vortex will dissipate! Liloupar remarks "the coast is clear" once finished.
The initial vortex in your path seals off a Precious Chest and the challenging Constellation Activation Mechanism puzzle. Solving it requires activating several columns in the correct order.
Completing this long quest chain fully empowers Liloupar and grants you access to hidden treasures across the desert. With the dangerous vortexes cleared, the sweeping vistas of the Sumeru dunes lie open for exploration!
