Is the RTX 3070 Still Worth it in 2023?

At 1080p, these graphics cards largely trade blows depending on the specific game. However the 3070 enjoys a small but meaningful lead in the majority of titles. The performance delta expands even further in favor of Nvidia‘s silicon at higher 1440p resolutions:

The 6700 XT does feature 12GB of VRAM compared to the 3070‘s 8GB buffer. But as already demonstrated, current games rarely utilize over 8GB at reasonable settings compatible with buttery gaming performance. By the time they do, both these cards will likely have retired from frontline duty anyway.

Speaking of retirement, there remains the question of pricing. MSRP sees the RX 6700 XT ring in around $70 cheaper than Nvidia Founders Edition models. However in real life, street prices often tell a different story:
