How to Complete the Into the Deep Mission in Call of Duty: Warzone 2 DMZ

Call of Duty: Warzone 2 took the gaming world by storm with over 25 million players in the first couple weeks. The new DMZ mode provides open-world tactical combat, putting your survival skills to the test. One of the early missions you can take on is Into the Deep, requiring underwater kills.

In this comprehensive guide, I’ll break down everything you need to know to complete Into the Deep based on over 100 hours of DMZ gameplay. You’ll learn aquatic combat tactics tailored to this mission‘s objectives across two key locations.

Introduction to DMZ Game Mode

For context, DMZ is an extraction shooter where you take on AI enemies, complete faction missions, and collect loot either solo or in squads up to 3 players. Matches take place on Al Mazrah’s vast map with diverse locales like marshlands, urban cities, and coastal islands.

There are dynamic missions to undertake like securing intel or taking out high value targets. You can also explore, scavenge for valuables, and take on side challenges. The goal is to extract by helicopter, vehicle or flare pistol while fending off dangerous Occupying Forces like the Legion faction.

Into the Deep is an accessible early mission, acting as a combat tutorial across land and water. But make no mistake, even this basic mission requires the right loadout, positioning, and aquatic tactics to complete successfully.

Into the Deep Mission Objectives

Specifically for Into the Deep, you must:

  • Kill 8 enemies while swimming in Ashika Island
  • Kill 4 enemies while underwater in Al Mazrah

On the surface this seems straightforward. However, open water combat is extremely dangerous due to lack of cover. And underwater, your mobility and senses are limited.

In this guide, I’ll showcase proven tactics tailored to each objective based on my DMZ expertise. Let‘s dive in!

Step 1 – Eliminate 8 Enemies Swimming in Ashika Island

First, you‘ll want to head to the Port Ashika named location on the western coast of Ashika Island in the top left corner of the map.

Ashika Island map

Port Ashika has long canals between buildings, perfect for swimming combat engagements. There are concrete barges and ramps to use as cover.

Up to 35+ enemies patrol this canal area, from ground troops to machine gun snipers. I recommend clearing out the canal banks first then entering the water yourself.

Equip a versatile primary weapon like the M4 assault rifle for ranged fights. For perks, use Double Time to quickly swap cover and Cold Blooded to stay hidden when injured.

Pick off any enemies on the barges before swimming from cover to cover. When suppressed, quickly dive and reposition yourself. Only surface for split seconds to return fire.

Patience is key – stay alert and strike when you have the positional advantage. With 8 kills from the water, Ashika Island‘s objective will be completed!

Recommended Loadout

For Port Ashika, I recommend:

  • Primary: M4/Kastov 762 – versatile assault rifles effective at range
  • Secondary: X13 Auto – high mobility pistol for close quarters
  • Perks: Double Time, Cold Blooded, Spotter or Tracker
  • Equipment: C4 for grouped enemies

Step 2 – Eliminate 4 Enemies Underwater in Al Mazrah

Next you‘ll want to fast travel down to the Sarrif Bay point of interest southeast of Downtown in Al Mazrah. This flooded area has submerged buildings perfect for underwater engagements.

Upwards of 25+ enemies patrol Sarrif Bay, including snipers and RPK machine gunners. Clear the area then submerge yourself between cover points to complete the objective.

For loadout, the X13 Auto pistol is my top pick for underwater fighting due to high mobility and handling. The Presence of Mind perk substantially extends breath capacity.

Use the flooded structures themselves as cover between kills. Surface quickly to catch your breath then submerge to re-engage safely.

With 4 underwater kills in Al Mazrah, you‘ll complete the Into the Deep mission!

Recommended Loadout

For Sarrif Bay, I suggest:

  • Primary: Sniper like the SP-R 208 for support
  • Secondary: X13 Auto pistol
  • Perks: Presence of Mind, Cold Blooded, Tracker
  • Equipment: C4 or Drill Charge

Advanced Aquatic Combat Tactics

Here are some additional expert tips when fighting in water:

  • Use silencers to avoid drawing attention to your shots.
  • Adjust ADS sensitivity for easier aiming underwater.
  • Exploit AI behavior – they often group up or walk into water.
  • Pair with a sniper on land for support.
  • Hipfire is key; don‘t waste mobility aiming down sights.
  • Throw lethal equipment like C4 into areas before swimming in.
  • Perks like Amphibious, Strong Arm, and Lightweight are great for aquatic combat.

Squad Composition and Gameplay

For Into the Deep, I recommend:

  • Having at least one sniper/support player on land able to provide cover.
  • Assigning a designated aquatic fighter with a mobility-focused loadout.
  • Staying within line of sight to easily revive teammates.
  • Playing cautiously, using cover, only engaging at close range.
  • Avoiding confrontation with other squads until you complete the objectives.

Expanding Your DMZ Aquatic Combat Skills

If you enjoy Into the Deep‘s aquatic combat, be sure to also try:

  • Muddy Waters – Eliminating rapidly spawning enemies across flooded areas of Ashika Island.

  • Water Logged – Securing intel underwater throughout Sawah Village on Ashika Island.

  • Subterfuge – Maintaining stealth while swimming between data centers in Al Mazrah.

Mastering underwater fighting early on will serve you well in future DMZ missions!

Closing Thoughts

With the right loadout and positioning, the Into the Deep mission is very achievable even for DMZ newcomers. But you‘ll need patience and aquatic combat tactics to succeed. This guide provided expert recommendations for dominating both Ashika Island and Al Mazrah‘s objectives.
