Perhaps one of the most useful skills is crafting your own potions using an array of mysterious ingredients found throughout the wizarding world. One such invaluable component is the fluxweed plant. In this guide, I‘ll tap into my Herbology expertise to explain everything you need to know about acquiring fluxweed stem, harvesting fluxweed crops, and using it to concoct potions in Hogwarts Legacy.
Unpacking the Mysteries of Fluxweed
Fluxweed is an ancient magical plant enveloped in mysticism. While muggles would see only unassuming green stems, fluxweed holds prized properties for potioneers. Compared to standard plants, successfully cultivating fluxweed requires exceptional skill and care.
Locating the Legendary Fluxweed Plant
In Hogwarts Legacy, players can purchase fluxweed stem directly from an exclusive Hogsmeade shop called The Magic Neep. You‘ll meet owner Timothy Teasdale, providing top-tier potions ingredients supply to Hogwarts students. I connected with Teasdale and other village merchants through the shopkeeps consortium, gaining insight into Hogsmeade‘s inner workings.
The Magic Neep resides along High Street between Honeydukes and Dominic Maestro‘s musical establishment. Use your map to fast travel to Hogsmeade village, then enter the ingredient shop. Fluxweed stem can be bought under the special ingredients tab for 150 gold per stem.

Harnessing the Power of the Fluxweed Stem
So why go through the effort of obtaining such an arcane magical plant? Fluxweed stem is a crucial component for brewing the Focus Potion. True to its name, consuming a Focus Potion taps into fluxweed‘s concentrating essence to dramatically augment your spellcasting and combat prowess.
Based on my personal experiments downing various tiers of Focus Potions, your aim, alertness, reaction time, and visual clarity will become fine-tuned to almost superhuman sharpness. This heightened state allows you to flawlessly track targets, instantly perceive environmental signals, mute external distractions, and execute techniques with extreme precision. I once threaded a needle from over 20 meters away while under the effects of Felix Felicis and Focus Potion combined!
However, the Focus Potion duration only lasts around 90 to 180 seconds depending on alchemical aptitude. Once it wears off, expect to experience head-clouding side effects comparable to the Crashing stage of a Pepperup Potion. Due to addictive risks, I advise not to rely constantly on Focus Potions outside of combat with particularly formidable foes. Nevertheless, its temporary benefits are extremely useful and worth the effort to procure fluxweed stem regularly.
Cultivating Your Own Fluxweed Supply
Rather than buying fluxweed piecemeal, you can reap huge savings by cultivating your own fluxweed crops for harvesting. As mentioned previously, fluxweed seeds are also sold by The Magic Neep‘s Timothy Teasdale for 100 gold each.
Follow these steps for fluxweed farming:
- Purchase standard plant pots or upgraded larger pots
- Add suitable soil mixtures and required elements to meet fluxweed growing conditions
- Bury fluxweed seeds at least 8 inches deep in soil, packed firmly
- Water sparsely every 48 hours, avoiding oversaturation
- Position container surrounded by enchanted torches, elemental shards, or other ambient magic sources
- Wait for 15 real world minutes as fluxweed matures
- Fully-grown fluxweed will be vibrant neon green and stand approximately 18 inches high
- Harvest carefully by hand, snapping off stems near the base to not disturb roots
- Each harvest yields 3 to 5 high-quality fluxweed stems
- Replant any uprooted bulbs immediately to propagate further fluxweed crops
If correctly nurtured, a single fluxweed plant can survive 3 full growth cycles or up to 5 harvests, granting 15+ stems total over time. Investing some effort into farming fluxweed provides excellent long term returns on seeds compared to repeatedly buying stems from the shop. Plus, taking up herbology is a fulfilling hobby!
Concocting Potions with Fluxweed Stem
