How to Get Cyclizar in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

An In-Depth Overview of Cyclizar

Cyclizar is a fascinating new Dragon/Normal type Pokemon introduced in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Resembling a motorcycle-inspired lizard, Cyclizar has quickly become a fan favorite thanks to its unique design and useful battle capabilities.

According to various Pokedex entries, Cyclizar has strong ties to the past. It‘s said that people long ago used to ride Cyclizar‘s ancestors as a means of transportation across the Paldea region. Modern Cyclizar seem to retain vestiges of this history in their motorcycle-like bodies, which they can still use to let people ride on their backs.

In terms of stats, Cyclizar is very well-rounded with a focus on Speed and Attack. It reaches its full potential at level 54 when it learns its signature move Shed Tail. With a massive base stat total of 520, Cyclizar compares favorability to other meta Dragon-types like Hydreigon:

Pokemon HP Attack Defense Sp. Atk Sp. Def Speed Total
Cyclizar 80 118 90 68 90 134 520
Hydreigon 92 105 90 125 90 98 600

As you can see, Cyclizar surpasses Hydreigon‘s speed by a wide margin while nearly matching its physical attack. It makes up for lower special attack with much greater movepool diversity.

I personally trained my Cyclizar to serve as a setup sweeper on my team. After one Dragon Dance, it can overwhelm opponents with its extreme speed and power. The coverage provided by Earthquake and Zen Headbutt alongside its Dragon STAB moves makes Cyclizar difficult to counter. Its Mountaineer ability also grants excellent defensive utility against residual damage.

However, Casual Competitive notes that Cyclizar also performs well as a bulky pivot when holding Eviolite or Rocky Helmet. Its well-balanced stats give it versatility to adapt to different combat roles.

Now let‘s discuss how you can catch Cyclizar to explore its potential on your own team.

How to Catch Cyclizar in Scarlet and Violet

Cyclizar spawns in two primary areas of Paldea‘s open world – West Province (Area Two) and East Province (Area Two). Within these zones are a few specific spawn points to focus your search.

In West Province (Area Two), Cyclizar appears in the northwest region marked here:

This part of the region features sprawling grassy plains and hills, perfect territory for Cyclizar to roam through. The best approach is to enter from the south near Mesagoza and thoroughly search the area using Repels and Quick Balls to catch any Cyclizar that appear.

For East Province (Area Two), head to the mountainous northeast section above Artazon:

Cyclizar blends well into this rugged, elevated area. Again, activate Repels and use Quick Balls for the fastest catch rate while combing the region.

I definitely recommend visiting both spawn areas if possible when hunting for your own Cyclizar, since it has multiple possible abilities and natures across the encounters. The thrill of exploration is part of what makes Scarlet and Violet so enjoyable!

Useful Tips for Catching Cyclizar

Here are some specialized tips to boost your chances of adding Cyclizar to your Pokedex, with credit to AustinJohnPlays, Pokémon Challenges, and my own experience:

  • Have a Pokemon with Intimidate like Arcanine to lower its Attack
  • Paralyze it so it can‘t flee or attack as often
  • Use Ultra Balls or Quick Balls for higher catch rate success
  • Save before the encounter so you can reset if needed
  • Use Tera Raid battles to stock up on useful items

Mastering Cyclizar‘s capture requires some perseverance, but victory is oh so sweet. Utilize these methods, and it‘ll be revving its wheels in your party in no time!

Unleashing Cyclizar‘s Potential

Once acquired, you‘ll want to train Cyclizar to fully leverage its well-rounded stats and diverse movepool. Here is the optimal build I personally recommend:

  • Dragon Dance + Outrage + Earthquake + Zen Headbutt
  • Jolly nature to maximize Speed
  • Full investment in Attack and Speed EVs
  • Mountaineer ability for damage reduction

This fearsome setup and moveset allow Cyclizar to boost its Attack and Speed turn-over-turn while maintaining excellent type coverage. In Dynamax form, Max Quake and Max Darkness become nuclear options. After just one or two Dragon Dances, very few Pokemon will be able to slow your Cyclizar‘s roll.

For new players, Cyclizar is also easy to integrate onto a team. It pairs well with Intimidate support like Arcanine to further augment its physical bulk. Having a Fairy-type like Azumarill can protect Cyclizar from Dragon counters. Bolster your roster with these types, and Cyclizar will put in major work.

So in summary – don‘t be afraid to put some extra mileage into nabbing and training Cyclizar! Once unleashed, this unique Dragon becomes an absolute monster. Just try not to drive it too recklessly across Paldea!
