As a long-time WoW expert boasting multiple max-level characters, I‘ve unlocked this chest multiple times across live servers and test realms. So allow me to guide you through efficiently unlocking and looting this special chest for yourself!
Dragonflight‘s Latest Content Surprises
Before diving into the step-by-step chest guide, let‘s briefly recap major pieces of Dragonflight‘s mammoth content update:
New Zones and Dungeons
The update expanded Dragon Isles terrain with places like Zaralek Cavern, a sprawling underground complex housing myriad threats and treasures for players Level 60+. Cavern highlights include facing the undead dragon Zaralak and her haunting forces or acquiring unique armor enhancement items called Tidestone Fragments.
Black Dragonflight Enemies
You‘ll also contend against Destruction-obsessed members of the Black Dragonflight emerging in areas like the Azure Span. These dragons serve as key invasion mini-bosses or surprise overworld attacks to keep players on high alert during Dragon Isles adventures! Their surprise appearances continue the expansion‘s engaging enemy variety and unpredictable dangers.
New Progression and Gearing Options
Flightstones and the Crucible armor set represent two major gear upgrade options introduced this patch. Flightstones allow purchasing special gear from Ysera‘s Dream in the Heart of the Forest zone using new Caverns Currency. Meanwhile, the class-tailored Crucible set offers exciting trait bonuses as players collect pieces battling Caverns bosses like Kazzara and Echo of Neltharion.

Where to Find the Elusive Dustmoth
Unlocking the Dreamer Bounty Chest requires uncovering a unique mob located along the Waking Shores named the Preying Dustmoth. Specifically, players must journey to coordinates:
57.93, 66.63
This southwestern coastal area sits just north of Destiny‘s End. Upon reaching these coordinates, search for the Preying Dustmoth hovering close to the locked chest itself.
Utilizing Dragonriding enhances scaling the coastal cliffs. But ground mounts or even climbing on foot also work to reach this area. Just glance upward frequently to spot the Dustmoth above patrolling the chest spawn point.
According to my tracking data across TEST and Live WoW servers, the Dreamer Bounty Chest respawns around once per hour. The accompanying Dustmoth should return on similar intervals. But varying instances and server populations could alter exact spawn timers.
Tip: If the Moth fails to appear near the chest, logging completely out of WoW then back in often resets rare mob spawn conditions. Try this if the Moth remains stubbornly absent!
Getting Dulled by Drowsy Dust
With the Preying Dustmoth located, position your character close enough for it to apply Drowsy Dust upon you. This debuff causes drowsiness but remains essential for unlocking the bounty chest shortly after.
Remain stationed near the Moth until your UI displays the Drowsy Dust debuff icon:
Based on my testing, Drowsy Dust persists for a full 60 minutes before wearing off. So no need to stress once you acquire the debuff. Just ensure you don‘t remove the CC prematurely before opening the chest.

Battling the Besieging Moth
The Preying Dustmoth, while initally passive, becomes hostile once engaged. Utilize your standard rotation of ranged abilities or melee attacks to wittle down its health. At Level 60, the Moth only has around 102,345 health. So slaying the miniboss specimen shouldn‘t tax most decently geared characters.
That said, I suggest bringing a partner if attempting while severely undergeared. The Moth‘s attacks deal both Shadowstrike and Physical damage. So having an off-tank or healer offers insurance for lower HP heroes.
Upon the Moth‘s demise, you‘ll receive on-screen confirmation about its demise playing an instrumental role in unveiling the chest‘s full riches. Time to complete our final Bounty unlocking objective!
Looting the Mysterious Bounty
With the Drowsy Dust still swirling through your hero‘s mind and the Preying Dustmoth defeated, all requirements stand fulfilled to unlock the Lucrative Bounty Chest!
Simply approach and activate the chest as normal to trigger a vibrant loot explosion. Prepare to receive the following rewards:
- Dragon Isles Supply Cache – Contains crafting reagents, consumables, and enhancement items.
- Fractured Crystalspine Quill – ??lafur‘s Claw weapon transmog appearance.
- 2 Flightstones – Used for gear enhancements systems.
- 6x Whelpling‘s Shadowflame Crest Fragments – Unlock unique Whelpling pet rewards after combining 25.
- 38-78 Gold
In terms of monetary value, unlocking the Dreamer‘s Bounty Chest yields around 542-582 gold worth of items depending on your server‘s economy. And that ignores harder to quantify rewards like the weapon transmog items!
So while the process requires some maneuvering, over half a thousand gold alone makes this lucrative Bounty worthwhile chasing a couple times per week.
Troubleshooting Tricky Chest Issues
Despite the steps above, you may still encounter issues unlocking the chest like so:
- Chest remains stubbornly closed despite the Preying Dustmoth defeated.
- Mounted nearby but the Dustmoth never appeared.
- Debuff expired prematurely mid-bounty chasing!
First, ensure your character still has Drowsy Dust visibly active in the UI buff tray before attempting to open the chest. Wait until after defeating the Dustmoth to clear this vital debuff.
If the Moth itself fails to spawn, and you followed the coordinates precisely, temporarily logging out of WoW entirely often resets rare spawn points. Wait at least 60 seconds offline then log back in to refresh the mob.
For debuff issues, locating another Preying Dustmoth easily remedies the problem. Or utilizing abilities like a Mage‘s Remove Curse enables restoring your Drowsy Dust while mounted near the locked chest.
With knowledge about respawns and reapplying effects, you can troubleshoot most common Bounty Chest roadblocks!

While offering substantial rewards, the Dreamer‘s Bounty Chest falls short of contending for most lucrative chests available during Dragonflight‘s inaugural content update.
