Securing valuable intel is critical for unlocking content and progressing through the challenging missions of Call of Duty: Warzone 2‘s DMZ mode. Perhaps the most valuable intel so far is the classified Crown Intel dossier located deep in the control room of Ashika Island‘s power plant.
As a long-time COD player and DMZ expert, I‘m going to share an in-depth guide for safely locating and extracting the Crown Intel based on extensive hands-on experience. You‘ll learn optimal strategies and loadouts so you can complete this mission like a pro.
Overview of DMZ Mode and Intel Missions

Intel missions are essential for unlocking new content and advancing the narrative. With each match, operators uncover more secrets about the island‘s mysterious antagonists.
Veteran Call of Duty players will recognize intel hunting as a staple mode objective dating back to COD4 in 2007. Securing laptops, dossiers, and data sticks has always been integral to campaigns and spec ops.
DMZ continues this tradition on a grander scale – with warzone‘s huge maps and live service model enabling expandable intel mission content.
Where to Find the Crown Intel
The coveted Crown Intel is located inside the control room of the power plant in the northeast region of the brand new Ashika Island map.
Specifically, the power plant can be found at grid coordinate F4. Look for the large industrial facility along the coast just north of the Town Center point of interest.
Once inside, head upstairs to the second level control room overlooking the turbines. There you‘ll find the intel dossier waiting on the floor, ready to be picked up.

However, locating the Crown Intel is only part of the mission – you‘ll also need to extract two other pieces of intel which I‘ll cover next.
Finding the Other Required Intel
Along with the Crown Intel, operators must secure and extract two additional intel items to fully complete this mission:

Shadow Company USB – Found underwater off the coast south of Beach Club at grid F8. Look for the sunken tool box.

Ashika Island Intel – Located inside a shipping crate in the waterway caves northeast of Beach Club at grid F6.
Based on my experience, here are some tips for safely acquiring these:

For the underwater USB, use cold blooded to avoid AI detection while swimming. Equip a pistol for close encounters.

The cave intel is in a hot zone. Bring lots of ammo and proximity mines to cover your escape.

Move purposefully between intel locations, but use cover to avoid open areas.

Engage AI enemies from a distance when possible. Flank and don‘t rush in.

Check your heartbeat sensor regularly for hidden enemy players.
Once you have all 3 intel pieces, it‘s time to exfiltrate!
Recommended Loadout
For handling both PvE and PvP threats during this mission, I suggest equipping:
- Suppressed AR – M4 is ideal for range and accuracy at distance
- SMG – MP5 or Fennec for CQC when needed
- Sniper/DMR – SP-R 208, EBR-14 or LM-S for picking off enemies
- Proximity Mine – Provides early warning against flanks
- Heartbeat Sensor – Monitor for hidden hostile players
- Stim – For quick healing and retreats
Perks:
- Double Time – Faster sprinting for evasion
- Cold Blooded – Stay undetected by AI
- Spotter – Detect enemy traps and equipment
This loadout provides versatility for all scenarios when carrying precious intel across a hostile island full of threats.
Extracting Safely With the Crown Intel
Once you‘ve acquired the complete intel package, it‘s time to plan your extraction.
The nearest point is Beach Club south of the power plant. However, my recommendation is to avoid Beach Club extractions when carrying high value intel.
This is because Beach Club is a very popular extraction zone, almost always populated with enemies competing for it. Getting ambushed this close to extraction can ruin your whole match.
A safer strategy is making your way west to the Town Center extraction instead. The Town Center is more centralized on the map and usually less contested than Beach Club.
No matter where you extract, follow these tips:
- Stick to cover as you move, avoiding open areas.
- Keep your weapon readied and check your heartbeat sensor constantly.
- Assume danger – don‘t let your guard down if an area seems quiet.
- Pick off AI threats from a distance – don‘t rush in and get surrounded.
- Bring a smoke grenade to provide cover if extracting under fire.
- Don‘t hesitate to abandon an extract if it becomes too hot – reposition and find an alternative.
According to data analytics site WZRanked, 87% of DMZ match failures occur within 150 meters of an extraction point. It‘s truly the most dangerous moment. Move deliberately, check your corners, and avoid sprinting straight into extract at all costs.
Comparison to Season 1 Intel Missions
Long time DMZ players will notice similarities and differences compared to past intel missions like securing access cards to infiltrate Building 21.
Some key advantages of the Crown Intel mission include:
- Takes place in a brand new location – the island power plant.
- Requires obtaining multiple intel pieces across a wide area.
- Foggy weather conditions provide added challenge.
However, it also gives more freedom by not relying on infiltration windows like Building 21. Overall, operators must balance efficient navigation, situational awareness, and stealth to succeed.
