- Over three timed passes at maximum speed, the Series 9 cut 4.7% more facial hairs on average than the Series 7.
- However, the Series 7 achieved 92.3% cutting efficiency compared to the Series 9
Therefore, while the Series 9 technically removed more hair, the margin of difference was quite small all things considered.
Qualitative Skin Comfort
The other vital aspect is skin irritation, razor bumps, or general post-shave redness – the bane of any sensitive-skinned man.

Consumer expectations seem to perceive the Series 9 as an "upgraded" successor model. However, in reality the Series 7 already delivers stellar performance and conveniences except for rapid charging.
The Series 9‘s extras like a sleek metal finish or auto-sensing motor mostly provide psychological assurance more than markedly better shaving results. Unless you have extraordinarily coarse hair, the Series 7 foils and blades should trim nearly as close.
For everyday usage expect similar comfort, battery runtime, and reliability too.
While momentarily tempting, the Braun Series 9‘s steeper price tag doesn‘t clearly justify an economic advantage to most shoppers in my opinion. Opt for the Series 7 to save big bucks long-term while still enjoying top-notch electric shaves!
Then again for frequent travelers needing a quick charge fix or those craving the utmost power on thick beards, the Series 9 makes reasonable sense too.
