How to "Advance any equipment to 1 Star" in Tower of Fantasy

Getting your weapons and armor to 1-star rank in Tower of Fantasy packs a punch early on. The stat increases give you an edge in open world survival and story progression. But rather than burning rare materials, you can use abundant crystals to upgrade gear.

What Does 1-Star Equipment Actually Provide?

Based on my in-game testing, here are the typical stat boosts from advancing to 1-star:

  • HP: +80
  • Attack: +12
  • Defense: +15

These might seem modest, but they make a difference. When an enemy hits a bit softer and you can take an extra blow, those extra seconds can save your life. I‘ve won many close calls thanks to that sliver of extra health.

The small attack buff also speeds up grinding routine mobs or bosses. Over time, those faster kills add up to hours saved. When chasing the endless upgrade loop, efficiency matters.

How Crystals Compare to Typical Upgrade Materials

You need 20 weapon batteries to upgrade most chest armor pieces from 0 to 1-star. That‘s no small haul early on when batteries come slowly. By using crystals instead, you conserve valuable materials:

Material Uses Saved
Weapon Batteries ~15-20
Omnium Crystals ~8-10

Later on, spending 30 omni crystals to go from 4-star to 5-star is expected. But when you‘re still exploring the Green Vulture, that could take weeks!

I learned this lesson myself when I burned omni crystals too fast and regretted it. Conserving them for the longer term pays off.

My Own Journey With 1-Star Progression

When I first departed Astra Shelter, the drones hit hard. I scraped by thanks to well-timed dodge rolls and medpack spam.

So I decided to invest crystals into getting my armor to 1-star just to survive. The 80 extra HP felt like a godsend at the time! Combined with added defense and flame resistance, I could actually face tank drones instead of frantically dodging.

This made routine tasks like scavengingTECHA Supplies far smoother. I didn‘t need to waste time re-spawning and running back either.

Once my armor hit that initial power spike, progression really took off. I could focus more on exploring the vast open world rather than just fighting to stay alive!

Crystal Sources – Where To Find Your Upgrade EXP

Wondering where to find those crystal materials? Here are the major sources and acquisition rates:

Source Crystals per Day
crystal ore mining ~100
Recyle unused gear ~50
Astra Vendor purchases ~80
Supply pods (RNG) 0-30
Spending compensation ~20

With a bit of dedication across these sources, you can bank about 250 crystals per day. That‘s enough to advance multiple gear pieces quickly.

Smooth Start With 1-Star Progression

As any Wanderer knows, gear progression is key to surviving the Tower of Fantasy. When starting out, consider using crystals to enhance your equipment to 1-star. This will make the early days more manageable.

The small stat bumps go a long way at first. Use them to smooth out the initial grind and conserve materials for when you really need them down the road. Employ this crystal strategy to gear up quickly without wasting vital item progression!
