How to Do "A Prayer for Rain on the Fecund Land" in Genshin Impact

From its vibrant rainforests to its mysterious underground tunnel networks, Sumeru offers no shortage of secrets for travelers to uncover. One such puzzle leads players to assist distressed Aranara with clearing out infected fungal overgrowths in the quest "A Prayer for Rain on the Fecund Land."

At first glance, this fungal hygiene errand may seem straightforward. But the hulking Disturbed Fungi stand guard to thwart any botanical dusters. With HP bars packing 60k HP each phase and unrelenting area attacks, these mushrooms hit painfully hard.

This guide provides expert tips to help bloom victory against the fungal menace and restore the rain cycle in western Sumeru. Let‘s dive into this subterranean network!

The Varuna Contraption‘s Precarious Plight

Distress signals from Aranara eventually lead travelers to discover a damaged Varuna Contraption concealed underground, surrounded by ominously burgeoning fungal overgrowths. As the name implies, this ancient machine regulates rainfall and moisture distribution across Sumeru‘s western rainforests.

But parasitic fungi have infected its systems, disrupting the local climate cycle and causing drought across several Aranara settlements. Restoring the Varuna Contraption hinges upon eliminating these pesky shrooms.

According to Aranara lore, the Fecund Land once teemed with aquatic life thanks to consistent rainfalls. But today its rivers and pools run dry, and even the lazy Rishboland Tiger has wandered away due to the lack of prey. Only by vanquishing the source of the fungus can balance return to the forest ecosystem.

Optimal Party Composition for Maximum DPS

Before spelunking to face the Disturbed Fungi, ensure your party is combat-ready and equipped to counter these tanky terrors.

As Elite-tier fungi enemies boasting 60k HP each phase, they require consistent high DPS output to melt their health bars before their relentless attacks overwhelm your characters.

Here are some suggested team roles and characters:

Main DPS: Yoimiya, Diluc, Klee, Yanfei
Sub DPS/Support: Xingqiu, Fischl, Beidou, Xiangling
Healer: Bennett, Diona, Jean

Ideally balance your composition between Pyro and Hydro characters to maximize Vaporize/Melt reactions. Overload can also pressure these stationary targets despite knocking them back.

For weapons, prioritize damage per screenshot boosts like the Thundering Pulse (Yoimiya), Mistsplitter Reforged (Diluc), or Skyward Harp (Fischl). Widsith works well for vaporizing supports like Mona or Xingqiu too.

Artifacts should focus heavily into Critical Rate/Damage in most cases to bolster your multiplying potential. But for transformative reactions, focus more on Elemental Mastery for catalyzing reactions.

With the right party framework assembled, now let‘s dive into the battle!

Step-By-Step Walkthrough: Locations, Enemies, and Tips

Section 1: Traversing the Tunnels

From the teleport waypoint southwest of Gandha Hill, head east through the winding caves while defeating any Lesser Fungi, Fungi Attackers, and Fungi Sprouts in your path.

Eventually the tunnel opens into a larger cavern decorated with luminous ore formations. Bounce across the orange fungal platforms until you reach the cliff ledge guarded by a Lv. 88 Ruin Scout: Colossus.

Dash behind it when it powers up its spinning laser attack for backstab damage. Clear out this miniboss along with any remaining monsters to unlock the route deeper into the caves.

Continue heading downhill, dispatching the standard ruin machines along the way. Use the fungi platforms to safely descend and reach the next waypoint flag.

Section 2: Disturbed Fungus Round 1

Prepare for battle as you approach the ponytailed Aranara near a shimmering ore deposit, signifying the first Disturbed Fungus arena.

This initial fight has three 60k HP phases, so conserving skills and bursts for key moments is crucial. Bait its linear water jet and punish with melee combos or vaporizing Pyro blasts.

When it rears up to slam the ground, sprint away then rush back in attacking once its shockwave contacts dissipate. Its broad hitbox enables easy positional backstabs too.

Upon defeating its first HP bar, it splits into three copies with shared HP. Quickly eliminate them before the main one revives with even more devastating pound, jet, and spinning scythe attacks. Manage your endurance and chip away at its health.

Vanquishing this fungal beast reveals a weakened spot you can destroy to open the path deeper still.

Section 3: The Final Stand

This last stretch again features standard ruin enemies and fungi monsters leading to one final showdown. Stock up on restorative sweet madames or jade parcels if needed from Crafting.

A massive Hydro Hypostasis tower attached to a colossal Disturbed Fungus awaits at the end. As expected, first destroy its revival cubes before targeting the shroom.

Now it also spews damaging spores during its spin attack. Carefully manage your spacing and stamina to avoid both ranged and melee attacks while hammering it with Pyro and Cryo pulses.

Once felled for good, cue a celebratory cutscene followed by a surprise guest…

The Varuna Contraption Restored…for Now

With the infected fungal masses cleared, the Aranara can begin repairs on the Varuna Contraption. Rainfall soon returns to the region, restoring vitality to flora and fauna alike.

The ever-observant Dori also pops up, seeking to profit from both sides by harvesting luminous spores while also selling umbrellas! That entrepreneurial drive never rests.

For your efforts, you‘ll unlock subsequent Aranara quests as well as receive the usual Mora, items, and Adventure EXP. More importantly, the fun-loving Aranara and the broader Sumeru rainforest ecosystem edge closer to balance once again thanks to your valiant mycological mastery!
