As a Destiny 2 veteran who has sunk over 1,000 hours into the game, few exotic quests have challenged and rewarded me like unlocking the Divinity trace rifle. Between decrypting Vex cores, tinkering through convoluted raid puzzles, and finally caging a Sanctified Mind, acquiring this weapon tests a Guardian’s skill, patience, and resolve.
But destiny’s most mechanically demanding trace rifle is absolutely worth the journey. Divinity’s unmatched utility from its exotic perk “Divinity’s Cage” cements its status as a meta PvE must-have. Plus, there’s no better flex than lazering down raid bosses while your fireteam ogles your new shiny cannon.
So strap in, roll up your sleeves, and prepare yourself, guardian. In this extensive, battle-tested guide, I’ll cover everything you need to snag Divinity for yourself including:
- My own trek through the quest steps and Garden of Salvation
- Comprehensive details and tips for each puzzle and battle
- Gear to bring for all raid encounters
- How Divinity performs compared to other top weapons
- Underlying Destiny lore illuminated by this experience
If you’re tired of LFG groups mocking your lack of Divinity, want to crank your fireteam’s damage to insane levels, or just desire Destiny’s most unique lightning gatling gun…this guide is your Golden Ticket. Let’s dive in!
My Exhilarating, Exhausting Journey Unlocking Divinity
My firstexposure to Divinity’s awesome power came while struggling through a Garden of Salvation boss checkpoint during Shadowkeep. One of our LFG add-ons Obliterated the Sanctified Mind’s crit spot with endless lightning, allowing us to finally clinch the kill. I messaged them afterwards demanding to know what insane exotic he was using. The response:
“Divinity. It’s a pain to get but SO worth it!”
I became obsessed with getting it myself. Over the next two weeks, I:
- Spent hours lost in Moon lost sectors finding the path to Zedian over and over
- Shot through piles of Vex reflections during those interminable Battlegrounds runs
- Failed the laser beam puzzles dozens of times trying to teach newbies the mechanics
- Lost track of how many wipes we racked up on Consecrated Mind alone
But finally, after a grueling 12-hour raiding marathon with one of the most patient LFG crews ever, the Sanctified Mind collapsed before us and that glorious exotic quest step flashed on my screen. The excitement of nabbing Divinity after so much effort provided my biggest Destiny rush ever. I still use the gun constantly both for melting Primevals in Gambit and obliterating raid bosses in Last Wish.
Now let me guide you through the entire iconic journey yourself!
Prerequisites
Before you can begin the exotic quest for Divinity, ensure you meet these requirements:
- Own the Shadowkeep expansion (purchase from Eververse store)
- Finish the Shadowkeep campaign through unlocking the Pyramid’s catacombs
- Unlock the Moon’s Lectern of Enchantment from Eris Morn
Completing the Moon story missions opens up the Lectern in Sanctuary where you can later decrypt Vex cores for the first quest step.
If you haven’t played Shadowkeep yet, I highly recommend working through that content first anyway for backstory. Uncovering the Pyramid’s dark power and Eris’ plans for harnessing Nightmares feeds into the Garden of Salvation raid where you ultimately earn Divinity.
Decrypt Cores from Zedian, Discoverer of Truths
The first quest phase tasks you with finding and defeating a unique Vex Minotaur named Zedian multiple times to decrypt six Vex Cores as Divisive components. Here are the steps:
- Locate lost sectors in Sorrow’s Harbor or Anchor of Light on the Moon that contain Vex
- Once inside, scan walls for a hidden path leading down
- Follow the path to find a portal guarded by Vex which leads deeper underground
- There you’ll discover Zedian himself concealing the portal home!
- Defeat Zedian to spawn a chest with Encrypted Core x1
- Return to sanctuary and have Lectern decrypt core into Divisive components x1
- Repeat steps 1-6 five more times until you have all six components
I wasted nearly five hours just trying to find the path to Zedian my first run. My advice? Use guides like this video walkthrough showing the precise location. Once you know the route, farming cores goes much quicker.
Pro tip: I suggest grabbing a Moon detector ghost mod from the Lectern to help locate nearby Vex sectors for faster farming.
Divisive Component | Source Location |
---|---|
Braytech Tranceiver | Anchor of Light |
Combustor Valve | Anchor of Light |
Integration Cog | Anchor of Light |
Nullifying Radix | Archer‘s Line |
Prime Segment | Archer‘s Line |
Suspending Armatura | Sorrow‘s Harbor |
With all six divisive components decrypted, you can now charge them up with Vex kills to craft an Empowered Core.
Charge Components in Vex Offensive
The next phase has you repeatedly clearing “Divisive Reflections” Vex waves during public events on the Moon called Vex Offensive (or Vex Invasion). Here’s the process:
- Queue for Vex Offensive specifically from the Moon map
- Play through the event until partway through when giant confluxes summon Divisive Reflections
- Survive three Vex waves consisting of multiple Overlords, Minotaurs, Harpies etc
- Kill the final Vex Overlord boss to finish that run
- Queue again and fully complete two more Vex Offensives
Surviving nine total Vex waves charges your decrypted components from the first quest phase. I cannot stress enough to NOT leave these events early or else progress won’t count! I spent several Offensives joining games in progress wondering why my quest didn’t update before I realized my mistake.
Once you’ve finished three complete Offensive runs, return to the Sanctuary vendor called the Electorate. They offer an Empowered Decryption Core in exchange for 30 Phantasmal Fragments you earn from Moon activities. Grab that powered core to kick off the true endgame challenge…
Complete Raid Puzzles + Boss Encounters
“Alright guardian, time to step out of your comfort zone…”
The last quest segment will push your coordination and comprehension of mechanics to absolute limits. You must assemble a fireteam of six players minimum and work together to:
- Complete the Garden of Salvation raid through the final boss
- During the raid, solve five intricate Divinity puzzle rooms hidden throughout
I suggest finding an experienced Sherpa plus patient learners on LFG willing to explain each encounter. Expect hours of wipes and re-explanation of mechanics to newbies. Our group nearly disbanded entirely after 4 hours stuck on the Consecrated Mind fight until our Sherpa brought us back together.
Below I’ll overview both the boss strategies and complex hidden puzzles required for Divinity:
Raid Boss Strategies
You must defeat these three major encounters:
Encounter 1: Consecrated Mind
- Split into two teams; left, right punching Cyclop Minotaurs
- DPS mind during damage phase when goblet fills
- Repeat until Mind defeated
Encounter 2: Sanctified Mind
- Stand on correct plates matching puzzle symbols
- Catch Voltaic Overflows to supercharge
- Throw charges at Mind’s shield when it’s drained
Encounter 3: Final Sanctified Mind
- Similar to phase 2 but with jumping puzzle beforehand
- Remaining fireteam must shoot glowing harpy orbs
For optimal damage, I create Weapons of Light bubbles during every damage phase. Bring your best heavies like linear fusions, Gjallarhorns, or sleeper simulants to melt bosses quickly.
Perplexing Puzzle Rooms
Tip: I strongly advise reviewing visual guides beforehand so your team grasps puzzle mechanics faster.
The puzzles involve decryption keys, connecting lasers, and pattern matching exercises. All players must participate to complete them.
🧩 Puzzle 1
- Enter circular room with divisions after first boss
- Each player steps on matching symbol to complete maze
- Follow auditory chimes to know if solved
🧩 Puzzle 2
- Drops down to giant laser forest room
- Players group into teams of 2; stand on buttons
- Extend and connect laser beams between towers
🧩 Puzzles 3+4
- Find additional forest rooms after second boss
- Spread out and activate panels to build connections
- Align everyone‘s lasers through prisms
🧩 Final Puzzle
- Enter room after jumping puzzle near finish
- Players stand on plates matching number callouts
- Shoot central node, trace patterns in sequence
If that sounds brain-meltingly complex…it absolutely is! Expect to spend 1-2 hours learning mechanics collectively. Keep the mood light, avoid shouting, and recap symbols constantly. With enough attempts your fireteam WILL have that eureka moment. Push through guardian!
Revel in Sweet Success!
After seven secret puzzles and three intense boss decimations, you’ll watch the quest screen triumphantly pronounce “Divinity Exotic Quest Complete!” first with ecstatic relief…then sheer euphoria!
You have one task left to claim your reward. Simply return to the Moon and defeat some Vex during a public event like Altars of Sorrow using your powered Decryption Core from earlier.
With Vex slain, that core will fully charge granting access to the final chest. Head to the entrance of Vex Offensive, spawn the chest, and behold…Divinity in all its caged glory.
Other weapons may match it for DPS but nothing replicates feeling like a Vex lord draining crit health with every crackling beam. You earned this, guardian. Time to dominate some raid bosses!!
So worth it!
How Divinity Stacks Up to Other Top Weapons
Wielding quadruple trace rifles is already insanely fun. But what elevates Divinity into S-tier levels is its signature perk Divinity’s Cage which creates a massive crit spot debuffing enemies by 30%.
That caged precision zone multiplies overall fireteam damage by over 200%! Below I compared Divinity’s performance to other common PvE exotics:
Weapon | Base DPS | Buff | Usage Difficulty |
---|---|---|---|
Divinity | 5,700 | 30% crit spot | Hard |
Gjallarhorn | 32,000 | none | Easy |
Sleeper Simulant | 18,900 | none | Medium |
No other gun provides team utility matching Divinity’s monster weak spot. Gjallarhorn outpaces it for raw numbers but has no debuff. Sleepers are easier to use but can’t enhance damage like bubble lasers.
Simply firing Divinity plus any solid heavy weapon means insane boss melt. That’s why over 85% of LFG teams request it for endgame content. Together with focusing lens and NO mercy, you can devastate raid bosses in seconds!
And despite lower base DPS, Divinity outdamages most special weapons anyway. Its only downside is requiring heavy ammo. Otherwise it reigns supreme as utility queen!
The Epic Journey Behind Garden of Salvation
Conquering the Divinity quest means unraveling hidden secrets behind the Vex, Sol Divisive, and what the Darkness whispered to them. Peeling back those truths transforms you into mythbreaker and prophecy defier.
Your victory echoes Saint-14 himself marching into the Infinite Forest and emerging victorious. Only instead of Vex simulations, you faced true Shards of Darkness spewing Nightmares. Perhaps by studying Divinity’s power and shattered remains, humanity gleans some advantage our enemies no longer possess.
At least until Lightfall arrives…
For now, welcome a brief calm before the coming storm guardian. With Divinity in hand, no Vex portal or doomsday prophecy withstands you now.
You stand Invincible (much like that master raid race winner Clan redeeming their own Divinity). Let the Ley Lines unite to call you Hero of the Infinite Timelines!
In Summary: Destiny Fun Just Getting Started!
And that concludes my full guide to scoring Divinity in Destiny 2! This journey challenged me like almost no other raid or quest before. The mechanics stretch comprehension capacity to an edge. But such sweet exhilaration comes from finally activating all computer panels correctly or downing Sanctified Mind after so many attempts.
If you love perplexing puzzles mixed with pulse-pounding action, I cannot recommend conquering Divinity’s questline enough. The gun itself reigns as a meta king you’ll depend on permanently for all raid boss annihilations.
Let me know if you succeed in your own Divinity run or need any other advice! My DMs are always open to discussing Destiny secrets, lore, or triumphant victories. Eyes Up guardian!
